FAQs

  • During an initial consultation, we will assess your child’s communication skills to determine the presence and extent of any difficulties, as well as strengths and motivations. This may involve a parent interview, observation and comprehensive assessment activities. If we find that therapy is needed then we will also discuss goals for your child and develop a treatment plan.

  • Absolutely. Therapy is most effective when families, schools and therapists are working together. We are more than happy to chat to your child’s school, collaborate on goals and provide feedback about progress.

  • At the moment we do not offer home visits. All appointments are held at our centre.

  • Speech-language therapists (SLTs) undergo extensive education and training to develop expertise in assessing and treating communication disorders.

SLTs provide a specialist and evidence-based service that is tailored to a client’s needs and requires the development of individualised treatment plans. SLTs aim to address the underlying cause of a communication issue and use remedial techniques and strategies backed by research. It is therefore typically a more targeted and effective service than tuition or teaching.
